Cardinal Elementary hosted a Fall Bingo Night on November 7th. It was wonderful to welcome nearly one hundred students and families as we enjoyed soups, desserts, and fun fall activities together.
During the evening, we shared important information about our goal to reduce chronic absenteeism. We encourage our students to embrace the mindset of “I want to come to school every day, ready to learn!” To support this, each student has a monthly calendar to track their attendance, and at the end of the month, we celebrate the grade level with the highest attendance with a spin on our Wheel of Celebration, which offers exciting incentives like pajama day and extra recess.
We also provided tips on improving attendance and played Leader In Me Bingo, highlighting the 8 habits of healthy and happy living that are part of our Leader In Me program.
A special thank you goes out to our Parent Lighthouse Team and our local businesses for their support in making this event a success. We appreciate the efforts of Kayla Flenker, Ashley Rivers, Lorene McLaughlin, Taylor Hayes, Becky Nowacheck, Heather Drury, Michelle Larson, Hannah True, and Megan Simmons, as well as our community partners, including Maquoketa McDonald’s, Maquoketa Dollar Fresh, Kohl’s Department Stores, Tammy Klemann, Nims Garden, and Jackson County Toys for Tots.
