Perry CSD

Dear Maquoketa Families,

Today we mourn and offer our most heartfelt condolences to the community of Perry and specifically the students, staff and families at Perry CSD. The tragedy that occurred today is difficult to understand and comes with many emotions and questions. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, building administrator or school counselor if you feel your child needs any support to process their emotions during this time. We understand that events like this can impact a child’s sense of safety and we will let them know the adults in their care will do all they can to keep them safe.

The safety and security of our staff and students is always the top priority. In Maquoketa CSD we have safety protocols/processes in place and we know we can always look for areas of improvement. I will be continuing this discussion with our Administrative Team, School Resource Officer and local law enforcement to determine any next steps and areas that we need to strengthen. While we know we cannot eliminate all risks, we are committed to doing everything we can to create a safe and secure learning environment for all.

The Maquoketa Cardinal Community stands with the Perry community during this time of grief and healing.

With Care,

Tara Notz
