Cardinal Leaders of the Week - 1st Grade
Thank you to the Maquoketa Municipal Electric and Utility for sponsoring our performance of Eco Guardians! A performance from The National Theater for Children that taught us more about the uses and conservation of energy. What a fun and exciting way to learn!
Mrs. Johnson's 2nd grade class learned about the importance of giving clear instructions with the proper information. They wrote directions as a class on how to make "dirt cups". Then they used their directions to actually make the dirt cups. It was a success and they included all necessary steps to make it from start to finish! They loved it!
Mrs. Johnson's explored the inquiry: "How were emojis created?" They looked at a series of pictures and decided which ones they liked better. Scientists have studied that people love looking at faces, even babies do! They created a chocolate chip cookie with the chocolate chips randomly scattered and one with chips that were like a face.
They discussed how emojis can be used to communicate with others and could also express how someone is feeling.
