Mrs. Manthei and five business students attended the BPA Fall National Conference in Des Moines this past weekend! They learned new leadership skills, how to dress to impress, and participated in the JA stock market challenge against other students! Next up will be the state competition in February.
Several students from the high school visited the QC Electrical Training Center in Moline,IL this week. They learned about the Electrical Apprenticeship program through the IBEW Union and toured their facility.

Intro to Health Careers and Health Science students finished their tour of the Jackson County Regional Health Center today. They toured the lab, X-Ray, therapy department, OR, billing and registration.
In Earth Science we are exploring bioplastics as a possible solution to the plastic problem. We are making toothbrush handles with our bioplastics. Once dry, we will evaluate them as an alternative to plastic made from less sustainable ingredients..
A group of juniors and seniors visited Kirkwood Community College to learn about life on campus. Students got to see a variety of facilities at Kirkwood, including their state of the art healthcare simulation center, veterinary tech building, and diesel tech lab!
College visits are open to any junior or senior at the high school. Please stop into the counseling office to sign up.

Health Science and Intro to Health Careers students were provided an opportunity to tour the Jackson County Regional Health Center today
Student Senate is sponsoring a food drive in order to support the MHS backpack program. Students and staff are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to their homebase GSTs from Monday, November 11 through Friday, November 15. This will be a competition among GSTs.

13 Students from Maquoketa auditioned for the All-State on Saturday Oct. 26. Sam Kress and Ainsley Munson were selected for the Band and Mia Ruley, Chloe Leon and Matthew Kula were selected for the Choir. Congratulations to them and good job to all who auditioned that day. The All-State concert will be on Nov. 23rd at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.

These students from the high school visited the University of Iowa today! They had a great time learning about the college, going on a campus tour and enjoyed a free lunch!

The Booster Club is organizing a state send-off for Izzy Hardin on Thursday, October 31st, at 9:40 a.m. Thank you for helping make this a memorable moment for Izzy and showing support from our entire school community.
A couple students from the high school went to Capri for a Career Day this week! They were able to learn about Capri's programs and rotate through stations which included hair, nails, make-up and massages!
