🌾 Maquoketa FFA Ag Safety Day 2026 🌾
Maquoketa FFA hosted its annual Ag Safety Day at the Jackson County Fairgrounds! More than 50 FFA members helped lead hands-on safety stations and work with students throughout the day.
A special thank you to our community partners who hosted additional stations: Lori Schnoor with NRCS, Macey Jurczyk with Jackson County Conservation, ADM, and the Maquoketa Fire Department, with Greg Bopes leading their station. The Fire Department also provided a vehicle extrication demonstration using a car donated by B & G Salvage. Chris Cornelius also spoke about her farm accident and how to keep a positive attitude even during the hard times.

Family and marriage therapist Marinna Kroh spent time talking to the Intro to Health Career students about her job.
Business Management class has been talking about business organization structures and learned how the different types worked by being assigned a structure type and then seeing who could create the tallest marshmallow tower! Students learned the advantages and disadvantages of being a sole proprietor, partnership or working in a corporation.

In addition, our Cardinal and Briggs students will be joining the High School Pep Rally on Friday, September 18th at 9:30. The Middle School will have their own Pep Rally at 8:30 am on Friday, September 18th with High School Student Athletes and Activities representatives joining them at the MS.
We hope our families, alumni, and community members will join us in celebrating the many opportunities available to our students and everything that makes Maquoketa a great place to be!

IMPORTANT LIVESTREAM UPDATE
Unfortunately, tonight’s Maquoketa football game will not be livestreamed due to an unexpected issue with our Hudl camera.
LISTEN LIVE ON KMAQ 95.1 FM
KMAQ Radio will be broadcasting tonight’s game live. We encourage Cardinal fans who cannot attend the game to tune in to 95.1 FM for live coverage!
A new Hudl camera was installed earlier this week and had been working properly. However, during testing this morning, the camera stopped working. Crews have worked throughout the day to resolve the issue but have been unable to restore service in time for tonight’s game.
Anyone who purchased livestream access through Hudl will receive a refund. Please watch for that refund and contact the district if you have not received it by Monday.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. We will work to have the Hudl camera repaired or replaced as soon as possible so we can resume livestreaming future events.

5th grade students learning about claims, evidence and reasoning in science and greetings from Buster!! MS is rocking it today!
Just sayin...our teachers are amazing at connecting with students and setting high expectations with content. So fun to see positive relationships/connections by using strategies such as "Would You Rather" and fun facts during attendance and also high level vocabulary learning happening on day three! We have great staff at MCSD who care about kids and want them to reach their learning goals!! Way to go Cards!

Briggs Elementary Arrival & Dismissal Information
Briggs families, please review the updated arrival and dismissal information below as we continue to navigate construction around the building. Thank you in advance for your patience, flexibility, and attention to these safety procedures.
**Bus & Shuttle Information**
* Students riding the shuttle bus to the Briggs area will remain on the bus and will be taken to the old hospital parking lot across from Hospice near 611 W. Quarry Street.
* Students will not get off the bus at Briggs.
* Parents picking up students who ride the shuttle should meet them at the old hospital parking lot.
* Briggs students who need to meet siblings at the old hospital parking lot may either walk the approximately block-and-a-half distance or ride the shuttle bus to that location.
**Parent Drop-Off & Pick-Up**
* Families dropping off or picking up students at Briggs should use Short Street or Apple Street.
* Please do not use Fifth Street in front of the school entrance for drop-off or pick-up.
* Fifth Street will be reserved as the bus zone from 7:40–8:10 a.m. and 3:00–3:30 p.m.
Please continue to follow all posted traffic signs, construction barriers, and staff directions, and allow a little extra time as everyone becomes familiar with the new routines.
