🌾🚜 Maquoketa FFA Ag Safety Day 2025 🚨🐐🐰

Yesterday, Maquoketa FFA hosted our annual Ag Safety Day for area 3rd graders from Briggs, Sacred Heart, Andrew, and Delwood schools! Students rotated through hands-on learning stations to build awareness about farm and community safety.

A huge thank you to our community partners who led stations:
🔥 Maquoketa Fire Department
🚓 Maquoketa Police Department
🐾 Jess from Wag More

Students also heard from Chris Cornelius, who shared her personal story about a farm accident and reminded them how important it is to learn from her experience to stay safe!

FFA members also did an outstanding job leading stations on:
Animal Safety
Animal Biosecurity
Lawn Mower Safety
Small Power Equipment Safety
PTO Safety

HOSA members presented about CPR and RICE as well!

This event would not have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors:

River Valley Cooperative • Becker Veterinary Clinic • Maquoketa Feeds • Citizens State Bank • Kunau Implement • Cornelius Seed Corn • Rolling Hills Veterinary • Eastern Iowa Overhead Door • Hwy 64 Auction • Franzen Family Tractor • Maquoketa Livestock Exchange • Innovative Ag Service • Jackson County Fairgrounds • BG Salvage • Maquoketa Fire Department • Novak Custom Baling • Cavanagh Mowing • Clark Saw Center

💙💛 Thank you for investing in the safety and education of our youth!

Sunday Events

We are excited for our first home football game this Friday, August 29th vs. Anamosa. Please review our Activities Expectations. Students 5th grade and younger are expected to sit with their family members (5th grade will continue to sit with their family even though they are in Middle School). In addition, once students enter they need to remain in Goodenow. Students will not be able to reenter the event if they leave, unless the are with an adult.

Thank You for your support as we work to make this a fun and safe event for everyone!

Tomorrow is the first day of school and we are so excited to welcome back all students, staff and families for the new school year! Tomorrow, Monday, August 25th is an early out. Please review the following times for your specific building:

Cardinal: 1:10 pm dismissal
Briggs: 1:10 pm dismissal
Middle School: 1:20 pm (walkers/car riders), 1:25 (bus riders)
High School: 1:30

These times will be the same times that apply to all Friday early outs also. A gentle reminder, to please be patient and give grace to staff, bus drivers and families as navigating pick-up and drop-off can always be a little challenging these first few days. Specifically, if you have a student at Briggs, Middle School or riding the Cardinal/Briggs shuttle please review the information that was provided regarding pick-up and drop-off locations.

Thank You,

Superintendent Notz

Thank you so much to our local businesses and organizations who donated and supported our district wide back to school staff luncheon on Friday. We appreciate the support of our staff as we kick off the new year! Thank You to the following: Fareway Dollar Fresh Eagles Club Women's Club Board Member Mary Herring for helping serve staff. Staff and parent volunteers for helping grill the delicious burgers and hotdogs. It was a beautiful day and great way to connect with everyone before students arrive. Here's to a great year!
