Despite bumping up the concert due to weather, 6 Maquoketa Choir students had a great experience at Luther College for the Dorian Honor Choir on January 8th.

Hello Maquoketa Families,
School will be canceled for Friday, January 12th due to our area being under a Winter Storm Warning. The District will also be closed on Monday, January 15th to observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Stay safe and we hope to everyone more next week.

Buses will be on hard surface roads only tomorrow, January 11th. If you are a family who cannot get to the hard surface road, please contact Transportation Director Hansen in the morning and he will work to arrange alternate transportation for your student.

Building Trades completed a nightstand, using three 2x4s.











Chris Krogman from MMEU came and shared career opportunities with Mrs. Manthei class today. He talked about electrical jobs, becoming a lineman, and working in the power plant!


Kimaecia Edward and Mia Reicks presented a $290 check to Sally Davies. HOSA students raised the money from the blood drive they hosted at the high school on October 31st. HOSA students elected to donate the money to the Alzheimer's Association.


Mrs Hurd's students are learning about osmosis and diffusion. Today they conducted a lab with starch and iodine to experiment with permeability.




Mrs. Adrian and Mrs. McLaughlin had a great opportunity yesterday to take some students who are interested in Electrical Apprenticeships to the Quad City Electrical Training Center!

Text invitations for Rooms! Parents, many of you have created a Rooms account and are using this new tool to communicate with Maquoketa staff. A new round of text invitations was recently sent to those who have not yet logged into Rooms. If you received this text today, the document below provides helpful instructions for next steps!


Mrs. Edward's research and technical writing students participated in speed interviewing. Students took turns being the interviewer and the interviewee. This activity was to prepare them for their upcoming mock interviews.





Today in Mr. McLaughlin's Biology Class, students created bubbles to represent the plasma membrane of the cell. The students explored various attributes involving the cell. The kids really enjoyed trying to make huge bubbles.






HS Student Senate is excited to host a Food Drive for our local food pantry. All items donated will go straight to the food pantry. Students may bring items to their GST teacher. The GST with the most canned goods wins this competition. Thank you for your help and support.


A matinee performance of Chaos in Camelot was held today for all elementary and middle school students. Thank you to all of our high school performers. Please come to the full performance on Friday or Saturday night at Ohnward at 7:00 pm.
