Solar Eclipse

Dear Maquoketa Staff and Families,

On April 8th, a significant astronomical event will occur - a solar eclipse. This event is a rare opportunity for students to witness the beauty of the cosmos. The eclipse is expected to take place in Maquoketa between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm.

To ensure the safety of all students, the district will provide solar eclipse glasses for those participating in observing the eclipse. These glasses are essential for protecting students' eyes during the event. In addition, students will be staying in-doors for afternoon recess unless they are outside with their teachers and solar eclipse glasses to take part in the viewing/learning activities.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the solar eclipse or do not want your child to participate in any solar eclipse activities please reach out to your child's building administrator or teacher. Your child's safety and educational experience are our top priorities.

Thank you for your attention to this important event.

Sincerely,

Tara Notz, Superintendent
Maquoketa CSD
