Cardinal Calendar

Dear Maquoketa Families,

I am happy to announce the approval of the '24/'25 school calendar following extensive collaboration with our dedicated calendar committee. The creation of the school calendar is a process that takes into consideration numerous factors to ensure a well-rounded schedule that benefits our students, teachers, and families. Key considerations that guided the decision-making process include:

  1. Student Hours Requirement: Ensuring that the calendar meets the state requirement of 1080 student hours to provide ample learning opportunities for our students.

  2. Teacher Contract Days: Aligning the calendar with the required teacher contract days.

  3. Alignment with Partners: Making efforts to align our calendar as closely as possible with Andrew, Delwood and Bellevue schools, as well as Eastern Iowa Community College and our career academies, to promote cohesion and collaboration within the educational community.

  4. Virtual Days Snow Days: Virtual Snow Days will begin on our first snow day to try and mitigate the need for additional makeup days at the end of the school year. Legislatively we are able to use up to 5 Virtual Snow Days in order to meet our 1080 hour requirement.

We believe that the approved '24/'25 school calendar reflects our commitment to providing a comprehensive and supportive learning environment for all stakeholders. Thank You to the calendar committee and neighboring Superintendents for their dedication in developing a calendar that meets the diverse needs of our school community.

If you have any questions regarding the '24/'25 school calendar, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Tara Notz, Superintendent
