Cardinal Elementary LOVED meeting our youngest students today as we welcomed in the new preschool classes. It's going to be a year filled with excitement and learning!
Cardinal 2nd graders have had a great introduction to the new CKLA reading series as they learn about different sounds and the "power bar". Please check with your 2nd grader to see if they can explain the power of this bar. We are looking forward to seeing the reading and writing abilities of our students grow as we dig deeper into the sounds of letters and how they work together to help us read and write!
Hello Cardinal Families,
We understand that the pick-up lines can get long as we release students at the end of the day, however, please try to refrain from blocking the parking lots of our neighbors.
We greatly appreciate your assistance and understanding.
Cardinal Elementary
Today at Cardinal Elementary we had our first "Leadership Assembly" and "Cardinal Clubs". Students had a chance to "connect" and get to know more about the members in their clubs. During "Cardinal Clubs" groups of approx. 12 students from grades K-2 meet with a new teacher for 20 minutes on Wednesdays to learn more about the 8 Habits of Leader in Me that help us all to be happy and healthy. During the month of September we will focus on Habit 1: Be Proactive.
Please watch the video (https://youtu.be/NeAgzccdvPA) to see our Student Lighthouse Team share more about the 8 habits and what we will be learning more about this year as we grow our leadership skills!
We invite you to review the Cardinal Elementary expectations with your students at home.
Cardinal Elementary students are learning the expectations and practicing with their peers to ensure we have a great space for all to learn!
We are excited for our first home XC meet in a long time at Prairie Creek. Thank you to our coaching staff, athletics department, grounds crew, Jackson County Parks and volunteers who have helped get this beautiful course ready for runners! Go Cards!
All MCSD buildings have AC. We do not expect to have early outs due to heat. If your student rides the bus, we will have extra water on the bus. If you decide to pick up your student instead of riding the bus, contact your building or Rooms message your teacher in the morning.
All sports practices will either be in the morning or, if after school, they will be indoors. See your Rooms messages or email from individual coaches about your specific sports practice information.
We are looking forward to starting our first full week with a full day tomorrow!
Reminders for the week:
* Doors will unlock at 7:40 for students to enter the building. We kindly ask that you stay with your student(s) until the doors are open.
* Please stay in your vehicle during drop-off and pick-up if you are coming into the circle drive.
* We ask that you refrain from parking in the front drive during pick-up and drop-off times.
* Parents entering the building are asked to come in at the front entrance and check-in with the school secretary before going into the hallways.
* We have wonderful neighbors surrounding us and kindly ask that you avoid stopping in front of any driveways or blocking traffic from getting in or out of driveways.
Thank you all for your support in helping us to create and maintain a safe and caring environment for our Cardinal students.
It was a fantastic first day of welcoming students back to Cardinal Elementary as we continued our traditional first day flag raising ceremony. It was a joy to welcome back many familiar faces and get to know some new ones as well! Let's make this another year to remember as we continue to help all students discover their full potential and build leadership qualities.
Maquoketa School District has implemented an online ticketing system for ALL activities starting with our home football game on Aug 30th, 2024. Follow the attached QR code to purchase individual game/activity tickets or season passes.
